In emergencies, bystanders are often the first to act. If someone is bleeding heavily, quick action can save their life before EMS arrives. The national Stop the Bleed initiative empowers the general public to learn a lifesaving skill.

In recognition of Women’s Health Month, Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is offering free vein screenings in Baton Rouge and Prairieville.

This screening is ideal for individuals experiencing symptoms of venous disease in the legs, such as swelling, pain, varicose veins, ulcers, or discoloration. Guests will receive complimentary thermal imaging scans, an advanced photographic technology used to detect venous insufficiency in the legs. Results will be reviewed on site by CIS cardiologist Shashi Gavini, MD.
