Woman’s has been named a World’s Best Hospital 2024 by Newsweek for the fourth consecutive year. Woman’s was recognized for excellence in infection prevention and patient experience in specialized gynecology and maternity care.

After an extensive nationwide search, E.J. Kuiper has been selected as the next president and chief executive officer and leader of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS). E.J. has spent the last 20 years as a leader in Catholic healthcare and will continue the progress and growth of the healthcare system when he transitions into the role on May 1, 2024.

Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) interventional cardiologists Drs. Satish Gadi and Amit Patel are the first in the United States to perform a radial to peripheral procedure with Angiodynamics Auryon Laser Atherectomy System in a hospital setting to treat peripheral artery disease in the legs. The procedure took place on Feb. 21 at Baton Rouge General Health.

The second annual conference of the Louisiana Epilepsy Care and Research Consortium was held on January 20 at the Higgins Hotel in New Orleans. The program, in collaboration with the Epilepsy Foundation of Louisiana, was structured to engage professionals about public health challenges related to epilepsy care, innovations and developments in the field, and promote research collaborations.
