The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) announced that its Medicaid managed care contract with Healthy Blue will end on December 31, 2026. Current Healthy Blue members' coverage will continue through that date and will then be enrolled with one of the four remaining Healthy Louisiana health plans with new coverage beginning January 1, 2027.

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) signed a three-year contract with Southern University and A&M College (SU) to bring greater suicide prevention awareness to communities across Louisiana. The expanded program will equip Louisianans to recognize risks, take appropriate action, and make connections for mental health providers. The partnership is designed to bring shared knowledge and expand capacity across multiple community networks, including mental health professionals, first responders and law enforcement, educators, service members, veterans, and faith-based leaders.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center will host a community ribbon cutting event to showcase new technology at its Hammond location on Sept. 16 from 4-6 p.m. on the Cancer Center’s campus at 15728 Jay Smith Drive in Hammond.
Guests can take part in a guided tour of the Cancer Center following a brief program featuring Mary Bird Perkins leadership. They also have the opportunity to meet the physicians, nurses and technologists, and enjoy light refreshments and giveaways.
