Andrea Normand, a registered nurse with the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, was recently selected as a Louisianian of the Year by Louisiana Life Magazine. Normand is one of only eight people selected from throughout the state for this honor, which recognizes individuals who are making a difference through various fields, including healthcare.
Normand started nursing school at Our Lady of the Lake College in 1968 and has been a part of the organization ever since – including serving as the first director of the Pediatric Emergency Department. Normand currently serves as the nurse educator for the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Emergency Department and is responsible for educating all of the department’s nurses.
“Andrea is a tremendous asset to our ER, and this is a very well-deserved honor for her,” said Dr. Shaun Kemmerly, chief medical officer for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. “As someone who has been a part of our organization for 45 years, she has touched the lives of thousands of young people and made an impact on the department and her profession that is worth recognizing.”
This is Normand’s second major award in the past year. She was also recognized by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation as its 2016 RN of the Year.
