Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University’s Student Government Association is providing 53 Thanksgiving meal kits to students in need during the weeks of Nov. 17 and 23.
The initiative replaces FranU’s annual Turkey Bowl in response to student food insecurity. SGA recognized that some students may go without a Thanksgiving meal and wished to provide direct support to the campus community during the holiday season.
“We shared an opportunity for students to pick up Thanksgiving meal kits provided by SGA, and the response was overwhelming,” said Rebecca Gruntz, director of Franciscan Student Life and Servant Leadership. "Thanks to the generous support of our faculty and staff we were able to nearly double the number of students who received a kit.”
Each meal kit includes a turkey and traditional fixings for a complete Thanksgiving meal.
