LPA Holds Emotional Resiliency Workshops

The Louisiana Psychological Association (LPA), is currently holding Emotional Resiliency Workshops, at the Florida Boulevard Baptist Church,  for those impacted by the flood. The workshops are facilitated by professional psychologists and are free of charge. The goal of the workshops is to promote resilience and provide flood victims with emotional support, and a chance to express their feelings about the flood in a supportive group setting.

So far, LPA has held 3 workshops for adults, all of which were very successful. Participants in the workshops expressed great appreciation for the opportunity to be able to get their emotions out, share their experiences with others who have similar stories, and to receive intervention from professional psychologists. In addition, there will be three workshops held during the first three Saturdays in December for children and teens.

For the December 3rd children's workshop, internationally acclaimed Environmental Trauma expert, Dr. Judy Kuriansky, will be co-leading this worthy endeavor. Besides being a professor at Columbia University, Dr. Kuriansky is a representative to the United Nations and works tirelessly on behalf of traumatized children throughout the world. Dr. Kuriansky is currently conducting similar workshops in Haiti. When she is back home in New York City, Dr. Kuriansky is frequently called upon to be a commentator on CNN.

Workshops are limited to the first 40 people who sign up. Go to resiliencyworkshops@gmail.com or call 225-926-7799 for more information.
