FMOLHS, Baton Rouge STEM Fellows Collaborate for Immersive Healthcare Learning Experience

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS) announced its collaboration with Baton Rouge STEM Fellows of STEM NOLA to host a transformative experiential learning course at FranU. Aimed at high schoolers from the Baton Rouge area, students delved into various facets of the healthcare industry.

The immersive program provided a platform for young minds to explore diverse fields within healthcare, including nursing, forensics, anatomy and radiologic technology. Through engaging activities and hands-on experiences, students gained invaluable insights into these critical sectors, igniting their passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields.

"At FMOLHS, we are deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals and innovators," said Tina Schaffer, FMOLHS vice president, chief talent strategy and diversity officer. "This partnership has allowed us to provide a unique platform for students to explore the vast opportunities available in the healthcare industry.”

The program supports the health system’s broader goal of promoting STEM education and fostering awareness about the various career paths within these fields.

"We believe in the power of education and exposure to ignite the flames of curiosity and ambition in our youth," said Asha Johnson, Director of Talent Strategy & DEI at FMOLHS. "Through strategic partnerships and immersive learning initiatives like this, we are paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future in STEM."

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System remains dedicated to empowering communities through education and opportunities, driving positive change one student at a time.
