As Ochsner Medical Complex - The Grove readies for its new pediatric super-clinic, more medical specialists continue to join the Ochsner Baton Rouge team. Pediatric neurologist Lalania Schexnayder, MD, PhD, and pediatric nurse practitioner Emily Jewell have started seeing pediatric neurology patients at The Grove.
A Baton Rouge native, Schexnayder is board-certified in neurology with special qualification in child neurology. After completing an undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, she earned a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 2001. She completed a PhD in neuroscience, pediatric and adult neurology residencies, and a child neurology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine as well.
Emily Jewell completed undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in New Orleans in 2010. She earned a master’s degree from the University of South Alabama College of Nursing in 2014. She has worked with Schexnayder for six years.

Expected to open in the fall, the $6.8 million super-clinic will combine pediatric specialty services with additional pediatric subspecialties under one roof in Baton Rouge.
