Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting a free "Wine and Wellness" event featuring vascular ultrasounds and electrocardiogram (EKG) screenings on April 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the CIS Baton Rouge clinic at 8401 Picardy Avenue.
A vascular ultrasound is a painless exam to test for venous disease, a condition which develops when vein valves become damaged or diseased. This test is ideal for those who experience leg pain, swelling, or varicose veins.
EKGs will also be offered to check the electrical signals of the heart. This screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An EKG is recommended for those with risk factors of heart disease, or those who experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat, or heavy heartbeats.
The event will also include hors d’oeuvres and red wine sampling.
Registration is required. Visit https://brwwapril2018.eventbrite.com or call (985) 873-5058 to reserve a spot.
