Our Lady of the Lake Children's Health Offers Seminar on Sleeping and Children

Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health will hold its second ParentingU session for local parents on the topic of sleep on April 11 at 6 p.m. in the LSU Health Medical Education and Innovation Center, down the street from the main hospital. 

Guest speakers include pediatric pulmonologist and sleep medicine specialist Jessica Brown, DO, and pediatrician Ashley Lucas, MD. The pair will discuss good sleep hygiene, answer questions about common sleep issues and remedies, and discuss tips for parents to help their children with good sleep practices.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Space is limited, so parents are encouraged to register in advance. Light refreshments will be served.

Dr. Jessica L. Brown received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She completed her pediatric residency the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Subsequently, she completed fellowship training in both pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine at the University of Alabama Birmingham, with clinical duties at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama. Dr. Brown is board-certified in general pediatrics and pediatric sleep medicine.

Dr. Ashley Lucas earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. She completed her pediatric residency at Tulane, Ochsner and University Hospitals in New Orleans, La., where she was named Outstanding Pediatrics Resident in 1999. Dr. Lucas has special interests in early childhood, obesity prevention, breastfeeding, and ADHD.

The LSU Health Medical Education and Innovation Center is located at 5246 Brittany Dr. near Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Free parking is available for attendees in the lot next to the building.
