Woman's Hospital's Cheri Johnson Selected for National Council on Maternal and Child Health

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has selected Cheri Johnson, senior vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer of Woman's Hospital, to serve on its 2021 Maternal and Child Health Council. This council represents AHA-member women's and children's health provider organizations and participates in the AHA's advocacy, policy, and resource development.

As part of this council, Johnson will have the opportunity to work toward addressing and solving disparities in maternal health on both a local and national level.

Johnson joined Woman’s in 2006 and previously served as vice president of perinatal services, overseeing all aspects of the hospital experience for women before and after birth, and as director of obstetrical services. She has more than 30 years of nursing experience in labor and delivery, intensive care, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, and emergency room care. She was named the Louisiana State Nurses Association Nurse of the Year in 2011 and is responsible for leading several healthcare initiatives to improve perinatal outcomes.

Woman's delivers more than 8,000 babies each year, making it the 16th largest delivery service in the nation and the largest in Louisiana.
