Registration is now open for the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Symposium, being held on Sept. 14 at the Catholic Life Center in Baton Rouge. All pediatricians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are encouraged to attend. CNE contact hours will be provided.
Keynote speakers include the following Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health physicians—Brad Culotta, MD, pediatric orthopaedist; James Gardner, Jr., MD, pediatric endocrinologist; and Kacie Sims, MD, pediatric hematologist/oncologist. Topics to be discussed at the symposium include:
• Endocrine complications in oncology patients and sickle cell disease patients
• Avascular Necrosis in the oncology and sickle cell populations
• Dietary considerations in the oncology population
• Endocrine complications in oncology patients and sickle cell disease patients
• Impact of childhood adverse events (ACEs) on children’s and adolescents’ mental and physical health
The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. The Catholic Life Center is located at 1800 S. Acadian Thruway. There will be a vendor showcase with breakfast and lunch included. Cost to register is $45 or $25 for providers employed by Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System.
