Registration Has Begun for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Asthma Camp

Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health and the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) invites parents to register their children for their annual Asthma Camp held in July. This summer day-camp, for children ages 6-10 with an asthma diagnosis, helps kids learn about their condition with age-appropriate, fun activities. The camp will take place the week of July 14 at BREC's Perkins Road Community Park .

Asthma Camp is staffed by asthma educators, nurses, respiratory therapists, and child life specialists. Under the supervision of these medical professionals, campers will participate in interactive educational sessions, outdoor activities, and games — all tailored to help them better understand their asthma and how to control it effectively.

“Our goal is to empower children with asthma by equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to manage their condition while having fun in a safe environment,” said Holly LeBlanc, RRT, respiratory therapist and certified asthma educator at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. “Through hands-on learning and peer support, we aim to reduce asthma-related complications and improve their quality of life.”

The cost is $10 per camper for the entire week. Space is limited to 80 campers, and early registration is encouraged. The registration deadline is June 16. To sign up or learn more about Asthma Camp, visit ololchildrens.org/asthma-camp or contact Holly LeBlanc at (225) 439-1883.
