Baton Rouge General announced the expansion of its clinic network through a new partnership with Dutchtown Urgent Care in Geismar, La. The partnership will bring the Dutchtown clinic under the BRG umbrella and make it a part of the General Health System network.
Open seven days a week, Dutchtown Urgent Care accepts walk-in patients of all ages and treats common illnesses and injuries including allergies, colds, eye swelling, fever, heartburn, nausea, sprains, and strains. It also features a lab, an X-ray machine, and an EKG for more moderate injuries. The clinic is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Ascension Parish residents will continue to receive the convenient, affordable, and high quality healthcare services, seven days a week that Dutchtown Urgent Care is known for,” said Edgardo Tenreiro, President and CEO of Baton Rouge General. “But with this partnership, patients who need a higher level of care can now transition easily to other Baton Rouge General services at Bluebonnet or the Ascension Neighborhood Hospital, once it’s built.”
Last year, after-hours clinics across the country saw approximately 160 million patients. Baton Rouge General opened its first after-hours clinic – BRG Express Care – in September of 2017. And Baton Rouge General Physicians, General Health System’s physician group, has 20 traditional clinics throughout the Baton Rouge area, including one in Prairieville.
BRG recently announced plans for Baton Rouge General – Ascension, a new neighborhood hospital in Prairieville, set to open in 2019. The hospital site is located at Highway 73 and Interstate 10, near the Dutchtown clinic.
