Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center recently implemented an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) program to provide life support for patients with respiratory or heart failure. The hospital is only one of four in Louisiana with this lifesaving adult program.

Abdullah Munir, MD, interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), is the first in the Capital Region and second in Louisiana to use the AGENT™ Drug-Coated Balloon, the first FDA-approved drug-coated coronary balloon in the U.S. for the treatment of coronary in-stent restenosis. The procedure took place at Lane Regional Medical Center.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, has opened its 2024 Community Health Grants cycle, which will invest $200,000 in nonprofits, healthcare providers, and schools for a wide variety of health-related initiatives.
Priority will be given to applications that align with strategic priorities addressing social determinants of health, increasing access to preventive care, promoting health equity, and improving health outcomes in Louisiana.
