Shahrzad Talebinejad, MD, Joins North Oaks Shock Trauma Center

Trauma Surgeon Shahrzad Talebinejad, MD, has joined the North Oaks Medical Center Shock Trauma team.

After graduating from the University of Maryland in College Park with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Talebinejad earned a medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, West Indies. She then completed a general surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center, followed by a trauma and critical care surgery fellowship through University Medical Center, both in New Orleans. Professionally, she belongs to the American College of Surgeons.

While in college and in preparation for her future career caring for trauma victims, Talebinejad volunteered in the emergency department of Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, Maryland. She also worked as an emergency medical technician with the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland.

Other North Oaks Shock Trauma Center surgeons include Drs. Marquinn D. Duke (medical director), Michael Fahr, and Rosemarie Robledo. Advanced practitioners include Aaron Bateman, Lorris Bouzigard, and Jennifer Rhodes.

North Oaks Shock Trauma Center is verified and designated a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and the Louisiana Department of Health. The center provides coordinated care with trauma surgeons in-house at all times to attend to victims suddenly stricken by serious traumatic injury. North Oaks is the only Level II trauma center serving Region 9, which is comprised of Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, and Washington parishes.

In addition, North Oaks Shock Trauma Center is part of the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN), an agency of state government created to develop and maintain a statewide system of care coordination for trauma patients.
