Ochsner-Baton Rouge expands Primary Care, Cardiology, Pain Management Services

Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge welcomes several primary care and specialist physicians to expand its services across the region.

Dr. Jeanenne Brignac’s primary practice location is Ochsner Health Center – Central, at 11424-2 Sullivan Road. Dr. Brignac, pictured here, is a native of the Baton Rouge area, and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Southeastern Louisiana University. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, and then remained at LSU Shreveport to complete her Family Medicine residency. After residency, she served as a primary care physician in a rural community health clinic, and worked in urgent care.

Dr. Brignac is board certified in Family Medicine with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Tim Durel’s primary practice location is Ochsner Health Center – O’Neal, at 17000 Medical Center Blvd. in Baton Rouge. Dr. Durel grew up in Baton Rouge, and received his bachelor’s degree in Human Geography from Louisiana State University. He earned his medical degree from The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, with training at Ochsner’s Clinical School. He completed his residency through Baton Rouge General’s Family Medicine program.

Dr. Durel is board certified in Family Medicine with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Edith Mbagwu’s primary practice location is Ochsner Health Center – Denham Springs North, 30819 Hwy. 16. A graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, Dr. Mbagwu earned her medical degree from LSU Health Sciences School of Medicine New Orleans. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.

Dr. Mbagwu is board certified in Family Medicine with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Jason Schrock’s primary practice location is Ochsner Health Center – Iberville, 25455 LA Hwy. 1 in Plaquemine. A Louisiana native, Dr. Schrock received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, and went on to earn his medical degree from American University School of Medicine in Saint Maarten. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.

Dr. Schrock is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Pavan Mular’s primary practice location is at Ochsner Health Center – O’Neal, 17000 Medical Center Blvd. in Baton Rouge, where he will see patients on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  A Baton Rouge native, Dr. Mular received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa. He then completed an Internal Medicine internship and residency at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. Following that, he completed his Cardiology fellowship training at Drexel University/Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Mular is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He will also see patients at the Summa location, 9001 Summa Ave. in Baton Rouge on Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dr. Karan Verma’s primary practice location is at Ochsner Health Center – Summa, 9001 Summa Ave. in Baton Rouge. Dr. Verma completed his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, and his medical degree at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He then relocated to Miami, where he completed anesthesiology training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Verma also completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Cal.
