Adolescent Medicine Specialist Reuben Battley, MD, Joins Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health

Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health welcomes adolescent medicine specialist Reuben Battley, MD, to its growing network of specialists. Battley specializes in helping teens and young adults, ages 12-21, navigate their complex physical, behavioral, and emotional healthcare needs.

“Adolescent Medicine is an extremely specialized field and with this specialty returning to our statewide network of care, Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health is able to offer more advanced care options for children throughout their teenage years,” said Shaun Kemmerly, MD, chief medical officer of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. “Dr. Battley’s addition to our health network is particularly special because it also highlights our Pediatric Residency Program and its work to train physicians, many of whom are returning to Baton Rouge to provide advanced care to Louisiana’s children.”

Battley, who completed a pediatric primary care residency at Our Lady of the Lake, joins Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health after completing a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He earned a medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., and is a member of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Adolescence can be a time of great change in a child’s life where developmental leaps and bounds occur. These changes sometimes require special adolescent-focused research, and sensitive, appropriate healthcare. For this, Battley will specialize in the treatment, education, and prevention of a variety of adolescent issues, such as growth and development issues, psychosocial problems, and high-risk behaviors.
